Welcome to Escola Banto de Capoeira
I was involved in the martial arts environment from a very early age, but it's in 2002 that I dicovered Capoeira in Chambéry with students from the Cordão Baiano group. During a trip to Paris, I met Contramestre Lucia, an exceptional woman. It was this encounter that decided me to start Capoeira.
In september 2003, I moved to the Paris region, and started training with Mestre Val. He, Contramestre Maguila and Professor Buiú gave me much good advice which allowed me to progress rapidly. I trained hard five times a week in order to put all my chances forward. In may 2004, I met Contramestre Luciano, a talented capoeirista whom I admire. His advice and encouragement drove me to invest myself even more in Capoeira, and at the start of the 2005 school year, I started teaching.
In 2006, I met again with Professor Buiú. His methodology and style inspired me to join him in the Chapéu de Couro group the next year. I was Aspirante Avançado (Advanced Aspirant),and I regularly accompanied my teacher to events. It was during these events that I met Mestres Pastel, Breick, Professores Atoa, Orelha, Bolo, Nando, and many others, each bringing their own personal experience.
In 2008, I moved to Blagnac, near Toulouse. I organised courses in order to make myself known in the area. In June 2009, I passed the Estagiário belt, and after a year of preparation, I opened a new school at the start of the 2009 school year.
On August 12th 2011, my work was recognised by the elders and I received the rank of Formado at the Forte da Capoeira of Santo Antonio in Salvador, Bahia, Brasil. The Formatura took place under the watchful eyes of Mestres Boca Rica, Tonho Matéria and Máximo.
In 2011, I started my own school, "Escola Banto de Capoeira", and teach in Toulouse, Beauzelle and Fonbeauzard.
After 7 years work on developing my school in the region of Toulouse, my work was recognised by my elders and, on the 26th of June 2016, I received from Contramestre Bolo my rank of Professor in front of my students and many guests of our annual Festival.
